Right now we cover a small area in the north of Portugal, from Viana do Castelo to Oporto. A small strip near the coastal line that is about 40Km wide

Thank you.

Our network is up-and-running!

Our first network based solution for measuring important climate data is now running!
We have real-time readings of UV radiation. These are not model based figures, but real UV readings.

They are expressed as UVI (Ultra Violet Index), a unit that is knwon all over the world.
Using this data local government and people are able to know how they should deal with actual radiation levels in their places.

This is the severity scale that is used worldwide.

We are ready now!

We are now ready to start the journey to pervasive computing age!
These are our first steps, but we know where to go, and we can now provide populations with our first solution to make life easier and convenient, when citizens look for services that match their environmental needs.

Competitive cities need to maintain an infrastructure to deliver services that somehow promote an easier living, acordingly with social and environmental values to the citizens.
These services need to be usefull and meaningfull for citizens everyday life.

We are beginning a new class of services of this kind. We are ready to supply them to local governments.

New metrics

"When you can measure what you are speaking about, and express it in numbers, you know something about it; but when you cannot measure it, when you cannot express it in numbers, your knowledge is of a meager and unsatisfactory kind; it may be the beginning of knowledge, but you have scarcely in your thoughts advanced to the state of Science, whatever the matter may be."
Lord Kelvin, 1883

We are now working in the equipments that will introduce new metrics.
Express knowledge about people and people moving aroundn in numbers, is our issue now.
Expect news in the first quarter of 2009.

Urban Computing

Talking about Urban Computing is talking about urban spaces, the technologies that are embedded on them and the inhabitants.

An urban space contains urban equipments and people, using implicitly or explicitly those equipments. Beyond that, an urban space also contains social protocols, typical behaviors, conventions and other intangible values, which altogether turn it into a complex environment.

This environment is a rich information medium, where even people mobility can provide us with useful information, depending only on the goals and objectives of the analysis.

This way and, as long as an automatic interpretation of the space semantics is available, it is possible to extract knowledge from the space. Such knowledge extraction, much more important than raw information, is the final purpose of urban computing, allowing a better interaction between people and spaces.
